Sticks Art & Furniture is an American artisan design company founded in 1992 by Sarah Grant in Des Moines, Iowa. Known for its whimsical, vibrant folk-art aesthetic, the studio produces handcrafted furniture, home decor, and accent pieces that blur the line between functional furniture and fine art.
Signature Crafting Process
Every piece produced by Sticks is made by hand in their Des Moines studio using a distinctive multi-step technique:
• Sourcing Materials: Built using solid domestic hardwoods such as birch, poplar, and natural driftwood.
• Wood Burning (Pyrography): Artisans etch designs, text, and outlines directly into the wood using heat tools to give the artwork physical dimension and texture.
• Hand Painting: Etched sections are filled with vibrant, hand-blended acrylic paints.
• Inlays & Accents: Finished pieces are often embellished with 3D carved wood components, leather, metal, and fabric.
• Sealing: Multiple protective coats seal the painted surface, creating durable, heirloom-quality items.
