This is a lovely piece of mid-to-late 20th-century studio art pottery, specifically a covered casserole dish (or lidded.
Style & Material: It is wheel-thrown stoneware featuring a heavy, rustic aesthetic typical of American and Canadian studio pottery from the 1970s through the 1990s.
The Handles: The most distinctive feature is the twisted ribbon/strap handle on the lid, paired with textured, integrated side tab handles. These twisted handles are highly tactile and show a high level of artisan skill.
The Glaze: It features an earthy, speckled oatmeal/beige base glaze with a beautiful running cobalt blue and purple drip glaze along the rim and accentuating the sides. The texture on the body has a ribbed, chattered, or combed design that catches the glaze beautifully.
